On January 13, 2026, this family experienced a devastating fire at their home. Most of the family members were at work and school, but Melinda Sweeney, Ava Carpenter's mother, was at home. Thankfully, she managed to get out safely and called 911, but the family has been told their home is a total loss. Ava Carpenter attends school with my girls at Lancaster Christian Academy, and our families have grown close through the school community.
This family is now facing the overwhelming challenge of starting completely over. They have lost not only their home but also all of their personal belongings. The first step for them will be debris removal, which is an out-of-pocket expense, and they will also need temporary housing while they work to rebuild their lives. Your support will help them cover these immediate needs and begin the long process of recovery.
Thank you in advance for any financial contribution you feel led to give. If you are unable to help financially, we ask that you please pray for this family as they navigate through this trying time. Your kindness and support mean the world to them as they work to rebuild and heal.
