Support Mary Grace's Family in Crisis
Donation protected
My name is Mary Grace and I am 21 years old. I have an almost 2 year old and a 3 month old son. A little backstory on my life is I was adopted as a baby. At 12 years old I was given back up due to some struggles within the adoptive family. My adoptive dad passed away and the mom and I are no contact. At 18 I graduated and aged out and have been on my own since. Just two weeks ago I had everything. A full time job in management, a vehicle, an apartment and both my boys had a room. But I had been struggling with my partner for a while. Dealing with the verbal and emotional abuse so I didn’t have to uproot my children’s lives and risk loosing everything. But one night he put his hands on me while I was holding the baby and he was removed from the home and a restraining order was put in place. Our car, apartment lease, etc was all in his moms name. She was even my legal childcare at her in home daycare. So I ended up loosing my home and transportation as well as my childcare. So I lost my job as well. I am now caring for my children on my own I booked a motel room for 3 weeks and then my bank account turned off my overdraft and after that we have nowhere to go and my savings are gone. The wait on a family room at the general shelter is very long and the domestic violence shelter is completely full. We are waiting on units to become available through the emergency outreach program but I’ve been advised that could take until mid March to early April. And without a vehicle it is extensively limiting my options childcare and employment wise. I have always made sure my kids had not just their needs but their wants too. And trying to move on and heal from DV while worrying if the kids and I will be safe and full tonight is beyond difficult. If you got this far thank you for reading my story and if you are able to help donate towards getting back on my feet I would be extremely grateful. All donations go towards housing costs, a new vehicle, debt from overdraft for the motel room, and groceries until I can be approved for snap.
