Supporting Makida’s Educational Journey

Hi everyone,

My name is Makida Herbert, and I’m reaching out with a humble request for your support during a critical moment in my educational journey. I’m an international student from Trinidad and Tobago, currently pursuing a certificate in the Graduate Teacher Licensure (GTL) program at Corban University. I also have the privilege of serving as a student assistant goalkeeping coach here, a role that allows me to give back to the community that has supported me so much. Recently, I achieved a major milestone by graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, and I’m deeply grateful for that accomplishment.

Corban University has been a life-changing experience for me. It has not only strengthened my relationship with God but also given me the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. The faith-centered community at Corban has inspired me to pursue my calling with greater purpose, and I am passionate about using my education to positively impact the lives of others, encouraging growth in both skill and character.

However, I’m now facing an unexpected financial challenge. This past summer, I enrolled in two crucial classes that are required for my program. At the time, I was informed that financial assistance would be available to cover these costs, but I recently found out that this support is no longer available. As a result, I now have an outstanding balance of $5,593 for these classes. While my fall semester is fully funded, I need to clear this debt in order to continue my studies.

Thankfully, I was placed on a payment plan to manage the cost and have been able to cover $1,700 of the fee so far. However, because I’m student teaching full-time and coaching, I’m unable to work to cover the remaining balance. This has put me in a difficult position, as I need to pay off this bill in order to continue my schooling. I’ve done everything I can, but without being able to work, I’m struggling to meet the remaining payments. That’s why I’m reaching out for your help. Your support will allow me to continue my education and complete my final semester in the Graduate Teacher Licensure program.
