Support Leza’s Fight Against Breast Cancer
Don protégé
Hi, I am Leza, a 58-year-old NICU nurse who was recently diagnosed with stage 2 lobular breast cancer. As you can imagine, this news has been life-changing. I am now preparing for a double mastectomy, and while I’m hopeful for a full recovery, the journey ahead is uncertain.
Following surgery, I will learn whether additional treatment like chemotherapy or radiation will be needed—this depends on the pathology results taken during the procedure.
What I do know right now is that I will be out of work for at least 6 to 8 weeks. While I do have short-term disability coverage, it only provides up to 60% of my income, leaving a significant financial gap during a time when I should be focusing on healing and recovery—not bills and stress.
I am humbly asking for your help to ease the burden. Donations will go toward:
Covering lost income during recovery,
Medical and post-surgical expenses not covered by insurance,
Transportation and care needs following surgery,
Everyday living costs during this difficult time.
Any support you can offer—whether through a donation or by sharing this campaign—means the world to me. With your help, I don’t have to face this alone.
If you’d also like to support ongoing research specific to lobular breast cancer, please consider making a contribution to the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA). This under-recognized subtype of breast cancer has unique challenges and desperately needs more research and awareness. Supporting organizations like LBCA helps advance better diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes for patients like myself and others.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
With gratitude,
Leza
