Hello! My name is Lori, Lesley's Aunt, I'm starting this GoFundMe page for my niece, Lesley Anne, whose life changed drastically a few years ago - July 3, 2023, to be exact. She has been diagnosed with a rare condition called Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH). It's a condition characterized by a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) that increases pressure inside the skull. Due to this fluid buildup, Lesley has dealt with constant headaches, vision blur, and temporary vision loss. This led to optic nerve sheath fenestration surgeries in March and April 2023. Lesley also had to have a brain shunt put in on July 3, 2023, which has led to complications and several trips back and forth to Vanderbilt Hospital (5 hours away) since then. Next week, Lesley will be getting an emergency hysterectomy at 31 years old, which will require 3 different surgical teams due to her brain shunt. Then she will undergo another brain shunt surgery after recovering from her hysterectomy. Lesley had a very good job, and after suffering from a seizure due to all of her health complications, she is no longer able to drive and was not able to keep her job. She is a single mom with no home to call her own, no job, and she and her daughter are living with friends who have graciously taken them under their wings to help out in such a difficult situation. Lesley's parents are both on disability, Lesley has no income currently and hasn't for a while. I know this rocky road has led Lesley into a very tough situation, and to not have to worry about financial hardships while dealing with all these health issues would certainly take some stress off her mind.
