My name is Kenneth, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult times in my life. After two years of dedicated work at a local school, I was unexpectedly fired. The situation began when ICE was in our area, and the school kept the children indoors. One day, a young student who spoke very little English was crying and calling out for their grandma and home. I tried to help by asking a Spanish-speaking teacher what was wrong, but received no answer. I asked if the child’s grandma had been deported or lost their home, and the next day, I was placed on unpaid administrative leave. A week later, I was terminated for what was called a racist comment, despite never having any disciplinary issues before.

This has left me out of work since October of 2025, unable to use my work history from that job, and struggling to find new employment. I’m too old for most labor jobs, and health issues limit what I can do. I don’t want to rely on the system or seek disability—I just want to keep a roof over my head and cover the basics of life while I look for work I can do.

I am hoping to raise enough to cover my rent, utilities, groceries, and personal care items. I am living with my elderly Parents providing for my dad who has dementia and both are on a fixed income. My rent helps them keep the house and helps lower the cost of living for them. So helping me you would be helping them keep a roof over their heads, utilities on and food.
