Hi, my name is Kendrick,

At 24, I was living my dream — working as a Vet Tech, studying audio engineering, and building a bright future. Then early 2025, I was diagnosed with cancer the same day I lost my furry favorite, brother, and best friend of 13 years, Blayze.

Eventually, I had to step away from the job and school I loved because my body couldn’t keep up, but I refused to give up. I continued driving Uber a few hours a day as my body would allow just to stay active, feel independent, and keep my spirit alive.

Since then, life has been a constant fight — through minor surgeries, chemo treatments, and endless doctor visits. Most recently, in October, I was diagnosed with early stage congestive heart failure during an unexpected ICU stay.

Update from Kendrick’s Mom-12/29/25

First, I want to thank everyone who has genuinely reached out, prayed, donated, and shown Kendrick so much love. Your support truly means more than words can express.

On December 1st, our lives changed again forever when Kendrick was diagnosed with Advanced congestive heart failure (CHF). Since that day, he has remained hospitalized, spending most of his time in the ICU. Watching your child fight for his life is something no parent is ever prepared for, and each day has required more strength and faith than I knew I had.

Fast forward to December 24th, doctors placed an Impella device to help Kendrick’s heart rest and regain strength as he prepares for open-heart surgery. He is scheduled this week to undergo LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) placement if/when our insurance approves. This surgery is a major step in his journey, and while everything is overwhelming, we are trusting God completely as he moves into this next phase of healing.

As a mother, my deepest desire is to be by my son’s side every step of the way during the hardest battle of his life. Navigating work responsibilities while trying to be present for my child during such a critical time has been incredibly difficult—emotionally, mentally, and financially.

After surgery and prior to Kendrick’s discharge from the hospital, as his appointed primary caregiver, I will be required to attend and successfully complete 3–4 (or more) training sessions to learn how to properly operate and manage the LVAD device. Once Kendrick is home, I will be required to be with him at all times for the first three months at minimum. This includes accompanying him to weekly doctor visits, closely monitoring his health, ensuring his safety and helping him adjust to a completely new way of life. This season will require my full attention, patience, and unwavering faith.

Your support helps cover time away from work, other medical-related expenses, travel to and from the hospital, help with boarding his dog while he is inpatient and the everyday costs that continue during a medical crisis. More importantly, it allows me to focus on what matters most—being present for my son and supporting his recovery.

From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate you reading, sharing, and donating (if you are able). Please keep Kendrick covered in prayer as he prepares for surgery and the healing journey ahead.

With love and gratitude,
Kendrick & his Mom, Belle
