Support Katie Hicks' Recovery Journey

Hi everyone, my name is Shiloh and I’m here on behalf of my friend and co-worker, Katie Hicks.

Earlier this year, Katie began working as a direct support professional at the non-profit organization that my partner and I co-direct. Her empathy, kindness, and giving nature have made this job come naturally for her. She is adored by both our residents and staff. I know everyone says that they have a work family, but I truly feel and believe this.

Katie also works as a bartender/manager at a local restaurant here in downtown Columbus. She is a single mom of two, with one son still at home, and she works hard to support her family.

A couple weeks ago, Katie sustained a traumatic brain injury after falling off a ladder and hitting her head on the concrete floor. She was hospitalized for nearly a week. As a result, Katie has been unable to return to her restaurant job, due to its physical demands. Katie is recovering, but it will be a long road and she needs to rest in order to heal.

As we all know, bills don’t stop when illness or injury occurs. Katie still has rent to pay, and that’s why I’m here to ask for your help. Sometimes it takes a community to support someone in need. I know in my heart that Katie would do this for you, for me, or for anyone if they had a need. That’s just who she is.

If you can give any dollar amount to support Katie while she is recovering, that would mean so much. If achieved, the goal amount we set would cover several months of rent, which is her biggest concern at the time. Thank you for reading.
