My name is Bre, and I’m creating this GoFundMe for my mom — my best friend, my safe place, and truly one of the strongest women you will ever meet.

For the past few weeks, we've been going through test after test, trying to figure out what exactly has been causing my mom so much pain and discomfort. We hoped for answers—just not the ones we received.

Yesterday, everything became painfully real. Her PET scan showed a mass at her voice box that is paralyzing her left vocal cord, along with multiple masses in her lungs, liver, left hip, left groin, right thigh, and back. After that, she was immediately sent for a brain MRI which then showed two spots on her brain that will need radiation. The doctors believe it is advanced cancer that has spread throughout her body.

Now we're waiting for a biopsy of her liver so we can fully understand what kind of fight she's about to face. The waiting alone is overwhelming. The unknown is terrifying. And watching someone you love hurt—someone who has always been the backbone of your family—is something you can never be prepared for.

My mom is exhausted. Her pain has been increasing, especially in her liver and back, so her doctors have increased her pain medication and want to begin radiation on her back right away to give her some relief. Even through all of this, she continues to fight each day with bravery, even when the fear and uncertainty are heavy.

This GoFundMe is to support her through the fight ahead—medical bills, treatments, travel, lost wages, and anything she may need so she can focus solely on fighting.

My mom is the person who has always shown up for everyone else. She is strong, loving, and endlessly selfless. Now it's our turn to show up for her.
