Hello Everyone.
My name is Megan and I have the greatest friend in the world.
Veronica has been my best friend since we were eight years old. She is kind, giving, and always sees the best in people. I have always hoped that she would find a partner that is equally as amazing as she is. Three years ago, she found that person in Josh. Josh has been an incredible partner to her and a wonderful human being all around. He is creative, kind, and understanding. They got married last year and the joy that I have seen and felt in their relationship is indescribable. He has brightened her world in ways I have never seen before.
This is where I have to share the most devastating news we all recently received. Back in February, Josh had an unexplained seizure at work. He was rushed to the hospital where they discovered a brain tumor. Around a week later, he underwent brain surgery. He has been officially diagnosed with Diffuse Glioma - an Astrocytoma Grade II. This is Mutant Type that has a total gross resection. This type of tumor is slow-growing and infiltrates the brain over time. The median survival rate is 5-10 years.
This news has been devastating to all of us who know and love Josh. Along with the horrible medical news and now shortened life expectancy, Josh and Veronica are having to navigate the extreme expenses of cancer care. With surgeries, medications, and time away from work, they are faced with insurmountable medical expenses, even with insurance.
I have started this fundraiser to give Josh and Veronica financial assistance while going through the hardest challenge of their lives. Every penny donated will go straight to them. These funds will be utilized for surgery, medication, treatment, travel, and living costs. Every donation will help alleviate the burden they are currently carrying. My hope is that this assistance will provide some peace for them. Josh is still currently working but will likely have to step down to part-time work soon due to treatment. Veronica is graduating from Nursing School in the coming weeks. My hope is to give her the gift of time with Josh. While their time is shortened because of this, they are still making the best of their circumstances. Their dream is to move to Canada and they still hope to do so, Josh's treatment willing.
Please help me help two incredible individuals in their fight against cancer.
For health-related reasons, Josh has asked not to include a photo of him. Here are a small handful of photos of Veronica and I over the years.
