Support Jess Mullen's Critical Surgery Recovery

Our sweet Jess Mullen needs our love and support as she prepares for a major hernia mesh repair surgery to heal a major infection in her body. This will be her 5th significant hernia surgery and, with hope and healing, the one that finally brings clarity and relief after many years of mysterious health challenges.

If you know Jess, you know she is a beacon of positivity, wellness, and resilience. She’s Austin’s Kangen Water Queen, a dedicated yogi, a daily walker, and someone who pours her heart into clean living and helping others. Yet, despite her best efforts, she has faced ongoing health struggles with grace, humor, and an unwavering spirit.

Recently, Jess discovered that the root of her issues stems from a hernia mesh placed in her abdomen 11 years ago, which unknowingly became infected. Her body has been courageously fighting this infection for over a decade, preventing her from going into sepsis—a condition that could have been fatal. While she’s grateful to have avoided sepsis, the infection has caused chronic inflammation, high blood pressure, and countless other challenges, pushing her body to its limits.

The surgery to remove the infected mesh is a highly delicate and intensive procedure. Her medical team will carefully extract the mesh bit by bit, in a process likened to removing gum from hair. It’s projected to take about four hours, and while it offers hope for healing, the financial burden is significant. Unfortunately, Jess’s insurance will only cover a fraction of the cost, leaving her to shoulder a daunting out-of-pocket expense. Jess will also be in recovery post-surgery for about 6 weeks and will be unable to work.
