Hi, I'm Jenessa LeRay. I'm a 46 year old transgender woman and parent of three children. I have dedicated my life to helping and caring for others. I currently work as a Licensed Nursing Assistant pursuing a nursing degree and formerly a Firefighter/EMT. Since making my decision to transition in 2023 I have had many hardships and have lost most of my life as I knew it. This experience has caused me to suffer extreme depression and hopelessness despite being the happiest I've ever been. Transition is the best decision I ever made for myself but it's had a lot of negative consequences unfortunately. The ability to get the legal help I need will provide me with the opportunity for a fresh start as my true self. I admit I can't fight this battle on my own and that is why I'm reaching out for help from the community. I'm in need of safe stable housing free from hatred, abuse, and transphobia. I need to have a safe space away from my ex partner, have space for my children to visit, and protect my parental rights. To accomplish my goals I need legal help that I cannot afford. I spent all of the money I had on a terrible lawyer that did more harm than good. All of the things he did now need to be undone and fixed by a competent lawyer. I will need $5,000 to start with for a new trans friendly lawyer that I have consulted with. It is estimated to cost at least another $5,000. Throughout all this I have also been in fear of losing my employment. I injured my back saving a patient from a fall in July. I have lost hours at work and substantial wages since that injury. I am expecting to be back to work full time soon! Recently I underwent a gender affirming surgery that wound up having serious complications. I was hospitalized for nearly a week and the whole experience has been extremely traumatic. Due to this I now have more lost wages, unpaid bills, and substantial medical expenses putting me almost $8000. further in debt. Despite all of the negatives I look forward to a joy filled new start as my true self, a bright future, and a meaningful life! Please consider helping out in any way you can.
