Holly Hanson is one of the most kind, empathetic, and loving individuals I have ever met. I'm grateful that I get to call her Mom. She has helped me through my many struggles in life without judgment. Now, it's my turn to help her.
My mom was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma on 4/19/24. The last year leading up to this diagnosis has not been easy, as my mom lost her mother on 4/17/23, due to an atypical carcinoma. Cancer is a word my family has become too familiar with. Hearing that it had reared its ugly head once more was a big blow after an already difficult year. Thankfully, Stage 2 means it is fairly "easy" to treat. We are preparing for my mom to undergo surgery and then radiation treatments. Unfortunately, life doesn't stop for anyone, and there will still be bills that need covering while she recovers.
**update: on 5/15 biopsies on lymph nodes showed malignancy, so we are now looking at chemo prior to surgery. This was a big blow and also means more time out of work.
My mom is a single mom of two kids. My brother, Jimmy, is almost 17 and still lives at home. My mom has been working two jobs for the last year to do her best to provide for my brother and herself. As we all know, it's difficult to keep up with the increased price on everything. As a single parent, it's hard to build savings in case of times such as the one my mom faces now. While having cancer is scary, and the physical journey she has ahead of her is going to be bumpy, the financial stress and burden of what's to come is almost equally terrifying. So, I am asking for your help.
Between appointments and reeling from the emotional toll of her diagnosis, she has already had to miss work. After surgery, she will have to take at least 6 weeks off. Any money donated will go directly toward rent, car payments/insurance, groceries, and other daily necessities.
Please help me take care of a woman who would give her last dollar to help another.
Many blessings and much love to you all. Thank you!
