When Sight Fades, Hope Shouldn't: Help Save Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind and Visually Impaired's (GDABVI) Lifeline for the Blind!

We are looking to raise $75,000 in the coming weeks! Please help us to continue our 64-year mission serving the blind and visually impaired across 7 counties in southeast Michigan!
Like so many nonprofits, we've been hit hard by rising costs and declining donations. We came back strong after the pandemic, but we're now facing the most challenging financial period ever.
This is about real people rebuilding their lives after vision loss. It's about a mother learning to cook for her family again. It's about restoring independence, preserving dignity, and transforming lives. These are our neighbors, our family members, our friends, our community.
Testimonials
Meet Carmen. When she lost her vision, she thought her life was over. She didn't know how she'd sign her name, count money, or do the everyday things that make life worth living.
"When I first lost my vision, I didn't know where I was going to be able to turn... This agency taught me how to sign checks, maintain my signature, count my money. I learned Braille. I can still cook meals, clean the house, do laundry - everything that a person with sight can do. This agency has really helped me maintain my independence."
Today, Doreen lives independently. She cooks, cleans, plays games, and participates in support groups where she's found community and hope.
Meet M. Vision loss left her feeling isolated and uncertain about her future.
"You've helped me learn so many things that make everyday life easier like getting around with more confidence, cooking, using technology... I've been able to meet others who are newly blind, share experiences, and build friendships. From the bottom of my heart, thank you."
And there's CC's brother, who lost his sight late in life.
"GDABVI is a godsend for my developmentally challenged brother. He lost his sight late in life and without this agency he would not have been able to move forward living his life independently."
