Support for the Harrington-von Hagen Family
Don protégé
On August 4th, Todd Harrington and Vanessa von Hagen were traveling home with their five-year-old daughter, Fiona, after attending the National Autism Conference at Penn State University when another driver struck their vehicle. The crash was serious, requiring emergency responders to extricate them from the car and then transport by ambulance to a nearby hospital. While little Fiona was released after being treated for a concussion, Todd and Vanessa remain in the hospital with significant injuries.
Todd is in the ICU on a ventilator and has undergone three operations thus far. Vanessa had five screws surgically placed to stabilize a shattered pelvis and will be wheelchair bound for likely three months. While all are expected to recover from their injuries, they have a long road ahead of them. Both will eventually be released to a rehabilitation facility, but it is unclear where they will spend the remainder of their recovery, given that their home is not wheelchair compatible.
The Von Harringtons, as they are affectionately called, would do anything for anyone, quietly and humbly. In fact, they are more inclined to come to the aid of others than to ask for it themselves. So, as their friends, we are asking that the community rally around this wonderful family in their time of need. Specifically, we are requesting donations for them to use towards medical expenses, childcare, meals, and temporary housing.
Please help us reach our financial goal so that the Von Harringtons can focus on healing after this life-changing accident.
