It's Eva, Rocky's cousin. I flew into Seattle and have been here with Rocky and Tonya since November 12th. I do plan on being here a few more days to give additional support but then need to return home. I have witnessed the taxing emotional and financial struggle that my cousin's family has been through, including extended family, all in the processing of information and support they are trying to give.
...........................................................................
As many may know my cousin Rocky is battling brain cancer. To be specific, he has glioblastoma, which is aggressive and incurable. Last Nov 2022 is when the brain tumor was discovered. He had surgery Dec 7th, 2022 to remove the tumors. Rocky had went through recovery and chemo after surgery. In August 2023 he had a scan that showed improvement and shrinking of the tumor. Three months later Nov 2023 Rocky became sick with symtoms. Tonya had taken him into the hospital on Nov 7th to get him checked, he was admitted the same day, then flown to Seattle. On November 14, 2023 Rocky had his 2nd brain surgery. Rocky is currently in ICU and fighting like the strong Hitchcock and lion he is to help the recovery from another major brain surgery.
Rocky has been a stay at home dad and caring for his young 4 children while his wife Tonya works outside the home. All together he and Tonya have 9 children. Currently Tonya has taken time off from work to be with Rocky. With the risks that came along with surgery, Tonya and the family still had high expectations that recovery would go a little quicker. With it being the second brain surgery in a year, things are a bit slower this time around, which means Tonya and Rocky will be here a little longer.
The emotional stress in just processing this situation for the second time is enormous, couple that with communicating and planning care for not only Rocky but for their 4 young children at home, is huge. The financial requirements surrounding this situation is very large. Tonya stays at the hospital but is not allowed to shower there. She doesn't get a lot of good sleep because of alarms and what not. So a hotel here and there for a night will allow her to take care of her self like showering, distressing, and getting a good night sleep. She has asked the social worker for food vouchers and gas vouchers and has yet to receive them. A social worker had told me that they do not have any more. The last thing they need to worry about is how bills are gonna get paid, food, gas, sleep. ect.
Any donations will go directly to Rocky and his family for anything they might need during this time. Please keep Rocky and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Along with social media, this site will be updated to share Rocky and his families progress and recovery.
