Our Dad Was Taken From Us While Still Alive
Our father went in for what was supposed to be a routine surgery—to remove an infected portion of his leg. We were told it was standard and that he would be okay. He was a diabetic with a history of heart attacks, but we trusted he would be properly monitored and cared for.
Tragically, that didn’t happen.
At some point during his recovery, his blood sugar crashed. He was not on a heart monitor. He was not on an oxygen monitor. No alarms went off. No one noticed. For an unknown amount of time, our father lay without oxygen and without a heartbeat.
By the time help arrived, it was too late.
Our dad suffered catastrophic, irreversible brain damage. The man who raised us, protected us, and loved us unconditionally is still here physically—but he is gone from us in every way that matters.
He leaves behind six heartbroken children who are now facing the unimaginable: grieving a father who can no longer speak, move, or recognize us, while also being crushed by medical bills, long-term care costs, and funeral and legal expenses we never expected.
Our father was everything to us. He was strong, kind, and deeply loved. Losing him like this—so suddenly, so preventably—has shattered our family.
We are asking for help because we don’t know how to survive this alone. Any donation, share, or prayer means more than words can express. Your kindness helps us honor our dad and gives our family the support we desperately need during the darkest moment of our lives.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping us through this nightmare.
