Support For Matt, Katarina & Family

"Anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you..."

Awaiting the arrival of their third baby any day now, this should be an exciting time filled with so much hope for the future. Unfortunately, it has turned into a heartbreaking situation for our friends Matt, Katarina, Mikolas and Mikayla and they could really use our support right now.

Please Note: If you know Matt and Katarina personally, please know that they have not yet explained to Mikolas and Mikayla exactly how sick their Dad is. If your children are friends with either of them, please refrain from sharing this information with them. Matt and Katarina would like to explain it to them when the time is right so please respect that.

For those who are unaware, Matt was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Liver/ Bile Duct Cancer. Sadly, the cancer has metastasized into his lymph nodes (including around his heart) and unfortunately his prognosis is not good. Matt and Katarina are still awaiting all of their options from the palliative cancer care team but one thing they know for sure is that they are hoping to get him all the support they can so that he can be around long enough to meet his baby boy and watch him grow for a little bit before having to say goodbye.

We are hoping to support them so that they may face this next journey in life with less financial stress. Between Katarina's maternity leave and Matt's disability benefits, they are barely covering their mortgage payments and a few bills as it is. Add additional travel expenses for potential treatments into the mix and it gets pretty hard to see the light in this dark situation. We want Matt and Katarina to be able to spend whatever amount of time they have left together with their children NOT having to worry about expenses and we hope you are able to help.

At the end of the day, Matt's number one worry is the well-being of Katarina and his children. As a person who does not like to accept hand-outs, it is hard to ask for help but they are in need of it and would be so very grateful for any support you are able to give.
