Support for Kim's Final Rest

Hi, my name is Bailey, Kim’s firstborn daughter. I’m raising funds to help lay my mom to rest after her sudden passing at the age of 58. My sister Shayla and I are her only next of kin, and we were not prepared for this unexpected loss.

Kimberly Anne Smith passed away Friday, January 23rd, 2026 at 58
years old at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by her
two daughters; Bailey Young, Shayla
Smith, her two granddaughters, Isla and Zoe, as well as many more family and friends.

My mom was an outgoing, kind, and warm-hearted person who made friends wherever she went. She had people who loved and cared for her from many different chapters of her life, which speaks to the impact she had on others. She was a true free spirit! Always marching to the beat of her own drum, embracing what made her different, and never apologizing for simply being herself.

She was a natural caretaker. She took pride in caring for her family, keeping the home clean and organized, making sure important documents were in order, and cooking a good meal for the people she loved. Even when she didn’t have much, she always found a way to provide something special, especially for her granddaughters.

She was incredibly proud of her family, her two daughters, Bailey and Shayla, and her beautiful granddaughters, Isla and Zoe.

My mom loved the water and the ocean. She found peace in sailing and loved fishing, spending time near the water, and searching for hidden treasures with her metal detector. She had a special love for dolphins, sea turtles, and whales. When I think of her now, I imagine her surrounded by the calm and beauty of the ocean she always loved so much.

We plan to hold a celebration of life in the spring, though we do not yet have an exact date. Our immediate focus is covering cremation expenses, and then we will do our best to plan a celebration that truly reflects who she was. She never liked doing things the “normal” way. She loved to have fun and always requested that Back in Black by AC/DC be played at her end-of-life services.

Timing for services will depend on travel circumstances for me and my daughters, Isla and Zoe, but we will keep everyone informed as plans come together.

Funds raised will go toward cremation, funeral arrangements, and related final expenses. Any support, whether through donating or sharing, means more than words can express during this difficult time. Thank you for helping us honor my mom’s life and memory.
