Support for Katelyn Christian
As many of you have now heard Katelyn (see copy of Facebook post below) is in the Intensive Care Unit at UMMC after suffering a stroke as a result of a brain “lesion”. At the age of 30 and almost 22 weeks pregnant, Katelyn went into the emergency room after complaining of a headache, sever dizziness and blurred vision on August 4th. An MRI was performed and she was diagnosed with a brain lesion and after further testing determined she suffered a stroke and was immediately admitted.
Many of you have reached out to Mark, Katelyn and the family and asked how you can help. Know your generosity, prayers and messages has really uplifted her spirits during this dark time. They need our help now to help with the unexpected medical expenses and loss of income while Katelyn is recovering and healing. Katelyn’s journey is far from over.

Wasn't sure if I was going to share this or not, but one week ago today I got the scariest news of my entire life. At almost 22 weeks pregnant and 30 years of age I was given an MRI based on some of my emergency visit complaints on Wed 8/4 and was told I had brain "lesion" of some sort. Long story short, I suffered from a stroke in my brain, all the reasons my balance + vision were being tampered with so much. I had then been directly admitted and accepted into the ICU care of the best neurosurgery team I've gotten to know here at UMMC. So far baby C + Mama C have remained stable, while recovery hasn't been all rainbows and butterflies my body is making progress I only could've dreamed & prayed for after hearing the news. I'm proud of my warrior baby & give so much credit to the staff here for managing my discomfort & fears as kindly and caringly as they have been. I appreciate the thoughts, flowers, prayers, cards, gifts, calls and texts. While so little activity takes so much out of me these days, I am trying to share my gratitude towards all who have reached out & been apart of me making it this far. I got to see my sweet girl the other day in person finally & my mama heart bursted at the seams being able to hold her again ♥️ Here's to knowing your body, being in tune to signs that something is way wrong & large hats off to the front line medical staff out here working on overdrive. Recovery for me is far from over, my journey has literally just begun but I'm thankful to still be here to trek through it all as the days go by.
