Hello, my name is Sarah Jeon and I am fundraising on behalf of my mother, Soonok, my sister, Esther, and our family to help cover the funeral and final expenses for my father, John.

My father, John, 85, of Warwick, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Born in South Korea, he built a life grounded in hard work, service, and love for his community. He was the beloved husband of Soonok with whom he shared 40 years of marriage, and the cherished father of Esther and Sarah.

John served in the Korean Army during the Vietnam War, and continued a life of service long after his time in uniform. He was a former president of the Korean American Association of Rhode Island and a close associate of the Korean War Veterans Association of Rhode Island, always advocating for and supporting fellow veterans and Korean Americans in our community.

For over 40 years, he was the proud owner and operator of John’s Army Surplus in Warwick, a place where many came not only to shop, but to talk and share stories. His store was his second home, and his customers were like extended family.

Like many families, we were not fully prepared for the high cost of funeral and end-of-life expenses. We want to give my father the respectful service he deserves and honor the life he worked so hard to build, but we cannot do it alone.
