Jake has supported many students with special needs in early childhood special education and in Kindergarten at Battle Creek Elementary in St. Paul Public Schools as a paraprofessional. 

And now it's our time to support him.  

Jake had a massive stroke last Spring and has been in the hospital since then.  He has a wife and two small children.  Both children attend a school in St. Paul, Nokomis South.  

"Jake is being transferred to a TCU tomorrow. This is good news in that he no longer needs to be seen by a doctor on a daily basis. He will continue to receive therapy services (speech, OT & PT) at the TCU with the hope being that he will come home after some more progress is made. Right now he is working very hard  on his speech and being more mobile—everyone who knows Jake knows that he is a talker. So getting back to talking is a priority of his for sure!!  In 2 weeks Jake will have what is hopefully his last surgery (cranioplasty). Prayers for this surgery being a success are very much appreciated since the last surgery was very scary.."

Jake needs access to an ipad with a GoTalk App so that he can communicate with his family.  He would love to have a conversation with his wife and his twin daughter and son. 

Sadly, this is not covered by his medical insurance.  

The family will also need a ramp put on their home for when Jake is ready to come home.

The family has roughly $3k in out of pocket medicals expenses so far as well. So anything above and beyond the mentioned expenses would go towards that.

This situation is urgent and I know we can help support this family the same way Jake has supported the students and the community at Battle Creek.
