**** UPDATE****
From the depths of our souls, we want to thank each and every one of you for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, prayers, and generosity. Seeing and hearing how deeply Danny was loved has been incredibly therapeutic for our family during this unimaginable time.
At this moment, we are unable to share many facts or details surrounding Danny’s case. This is to ensure the integrity of the legal process and to give the best possible chance that his killer, Deondre Franklin, is held fully accountable and receives the maximum sentence allowed by law.
What we can share is something that has shaken us to our core: in Arizona, the sentencing range for Second Degree Murder is a minimum of 16 years and a maximum of only 25 years. This reality is devastating and unacceptable to us.
In Danny’s honor, and alongside another family who has also lost a loved one to senseless violence, we will be championing new legislation — The Danny/Joshua Bill. This bill aims to change sentencing guidelines for Second Degree Murder in Arizona, allowing for stricter and more appropriate penalties. We will not allow Danny to go silently into the night, nor will we allow other families to be forced into the same painful position we are now living.
From what we have been told, Danny showed no fear after being shot — only the will to fight and live. That was who he was. He loved fiercely, deeply, and without limits.
We are currently looking at February 28th for Danny’s Celebration of Life. A final date, time, and details will be announced soon.
We have updated the GoFundMe goal to $15,000. These funds will help cover:
Funeral and mortuary expenses
Legal and attorney fees related to the court process
Costs associated with handling Danny’s estate
Retaining Danny’s prized possessions
Advocacy efforts to champion the Danny/Joshua Bill
We will continue to share updates as the court process moves forward and as we are legally permitted to do so.
Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for loving Danny.
We carry him with us — always.
❤️
Friday morning January 16, 2026, Danny’s family suffered an unimaginable loss. Danny was taken from them in a senseless, unprovoked act of violence. His sister Delca Kaster and the rest of his loved ones were completely unprepared for this tragedy and are now struggling with the financial burden of funeral services and his remains.
Danny was a beloved brother, son, uncle, friend, and member of our community. His sudden passing has left a void in the lives of everyone who knew him. As Delca and the family try to process this heartbreaking loss, they are also faced with unexpected expenses that no one should have to bear alone.
We are reaching out to our friends, family, and community for support during this incredibly difficult time. Any amount you are able to give will help ease this burden and is deeply appreciated. Your kindness and generosity will help honor Danny’s memory and support his family as they navigate the days ahead.
I, Shannon Likewise am the organizer and Delca Kaster is his sister, beneficiary and co-organizer. I am assisting as she is inundated with setting up services, court dates, etc.
