Support Em Rose Farm to blossom! #organicfarming

Hello, I'm Sylvana Weinstein, and I have had the great good fortune of meeting Joshua Fiagbedzi, and his family during the second year of Covid. In my continued search returning to earth-based work, I found myself working at Lindentree Farm as a Farm Hand and later as Manager of Field Of Greens which grows food for underserved populations. This is where I met Joshua. We worked together for a growing season. It was a tough and very rewarding season, planting in the greenhouse with masks on, and all the manual labor. However, Joshua in his always colorful farm (?) attire always had a kind word, smile and impeccable work ethic, he made the hard work easier, sharing stories, and songs. He shared with me his desire to start a farm of his own back in his home country, Ghana. When the day came that his wife Emily got a job in Ghana, I was delighted for them and saddened for the farm team here that would be losing his brilliant demeanor. Well it didn't take long before I was summoned to Ghana by Joshua and his family. It was during my 3-week stay in Ghana this past January, that I got to see firsthand how much I take for granted as an American.

The reasons are many that I am wanting to raise funds for Em Rose Farm, one is to support my community of land stewards; my connection to Joshua, Emily and their growing family; as well as my desire to support their mission: Em Rose Farm is a family farm in Ghana using organic and regenerative farming practices to produce high-quality vegetables, fruits, and flowers for the Ghanaian market.

During my trip to Ghana, I had first-hand experience of how difficult it is for Joshua to transport farm equipment, and produce to the farm and the market by motorcycle each of which is 2 hours roundtrip from his home. Half of the funds will go toward purchasing a 3-wheel flatbed motorcycle, not only is it safer it reduces the number of these trips he has to make to less than 1/3, by increasing the load he can carry in a single trip. The other half of the funds will go toward digging a well so they can irrigate their crops. Among the world's more vulnerable nations, Ghana is being hit hard by droughts, due to climate change (see link for more info)

We so appreciate your contribution. Every bit helps.

We are asking for $20.00-$100.00, or anything you're able to give. We are looking to raise these funds by the end of April, so they can begin to dig the well, which will take some time.

In addition to your contribution, it would be greatly appreciated if you could forward this page to your network.

In loving gratitude,
Sylvana
