**Help Support Dr. Fran Kratz in Her Fight Against Cancer**

Life changed in an instant for Dr. Fran Kratz, a dedicated Emergency Room physician, mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend - who has spent much of her life (and career) caring for others in their moments of greatest need. Late on a Friday night just before Labor Day, while working her ER shift, Fran began feeling unwell and was encouraged by a nurse colleague to get checked out. Within days, Fran and her family received devastating news: **stage 4 rectal cancer with metastasis to her liver and thoracic spine.**

Fran began chemotherapy on September 22 and has completed three rounds, in addition to receiving intravenous chemo delivered directly to her liver. While treatments have shown some hopeful signs—like reduced abdominal and back pain—Fran has faced serious complications. She recently developed mucositis, which has made it nearly impossible to eat or drink. As a result, she became severely dehydrated and was admitted to Lancaster General Hospital on October 27th after a fall at home.

Unable to work, Fran is now focusing all her strength on recovery so that she can get back to her treatments, and to her family. For someone who has spent her life caring for others, this has been a difficult adjustment.
