Support Dennis with Ongoing Treatments & Recovery

In the first week of October, Dennis Newhouse was rushed to the Emergency Room with excruciating pain in his belly. There, they determined that he had suffered a perforated bowel and the first of several minor and major tests and surgeries began. After about two weeks in the hospital, and one day from his release a second perforation was discovered leading to a major surgery where a section of his bowel, and a malignant tumor were removed- a surgery from which he is still recovering.

Dennis has rarely missed a day of work in the 20+ years he has been associated with Ready About Sailing. It has been painful in more ways than one for him to be out of work. He is the mainstay of the Service Department at Ready About and has worked on many hundreds of boats over all these years.

His daughters Keera and Kylah and families have tirelessly supported him every step of the way, taking time away from their own work and families and digging into their own pocketbooks.

So far, Dennis’s inability to work has cost him several thousand dollars in wages and benefits and his out-of-pocket expenses for doctors, hospital, and medicines has significantly added to his physical and financial concerns. And, he is not done yet- he will need further surgery next year to reverse the procedure required to remove the tumor and more time off to recover from that.

This GoFundMe has been organized by his friends at work to provide a simple means for those who know and love him (and for those who don’t, but may feel some empathy with Dennis) to provide a measure of help to him and his family as he continues to recover.

Dennis is a strong and caring man, but this has knocked him for a loop. Please help us reach our goal and get him back on his feet.
