Within our beautiful and quaint town of Dayton, we have lost a historical backbone on our downtown main street, the Dayton Mini-Market, due to a fire. The Market's building and apartments are owned by the Patel family. Along with the market, we also lost the apartments above the market, and there is significant damage to the Dayton Tavern. The apartments above the market housed 8 tenants that did not have renter's insurance. Some of the tenants are immigrants from Mexico, India and Honduras. Four of the tenants are above the age of 50, and the others range in age from 38-45 years old. Please consider helping the 8 tenants, the Patel family, and the Dayton Tavern. In speaking with the family, they will need clothing and food items (7/8 tenants are male), but they prefer purchasing these on their own as they have particular diets and cultural clothing. If you would prefer donating items over financial funding (hygiene products, etc) please drop items that are nonperishable at the Dayton Town Municipal Building at 125B East View St.
Please consider donating, and helping your neighbors. Again, the Dayton Mini-Market is an incredibly important staple in our community, and we can't wait for them to rebuild! Please support the Dayton Tavern by purchasing the amazing to-go dinners at the North River Market in Bridgewater (400 N Main St, Bridgewater). Let's help our neighbors rebuild their homes and businesses! I am their business neighbor, and will be donating all funds to the families who lost housing and belongings in the fire.
