Support Cecilia’s Fight: DV, Cancer, Kids & New Start

We are here asking you for your support in the most difficult time of Cecilia's life, No one never imagined she would be in this situation of great need.

Cecilia is a brave single mother of twins who are just two years and seven months old. Originally from Buenavista - Colombia, she came to the United States with big dreams in 2021, but now faces her most difficult challenge yet. In May, Cecilia was diagnosed with pT3aN1bM1 anaplastic thyroid cancer, an aggressive and life-threatening illness that requires immediate surgery, ongoing, intensive treatment.

With no family or friends nearby, she is doing everything she can to care for her young children while fighting for her own life.

Her marriage, unfortunately was far from good since the beginning, Having twins exacerbated the financial, psychological and physical abuse from her estranged husband. After she became ill it got of of control. Finally she put a restraining order, started the divorce process and moved out this past week to a shelter for domestic violence survivors. The shelter is not a suitable long-term environment for Cecilia and her twins, and she urgently needs safe housing; she also needs a car for her basic needs like getting to treatments or buying groceries, reliable childcare so she can schedule the life saving surgery that she needs, attend her medical appointments and focus on her recovery.

She left with nothing but a few pieces of clothes, and she is starting her new life from zero.

She cannot leave the country until her divorce is finalized due to custody.

In addition to medical and living expenses, Cecilia faces significant legal challenges. She must secure a divorce and continue her legal immigration process without a sponsor, both of which require legal support. She is currently enrolled with Legal Aid and quoted her $18,000 on legal fees. Under the current immigration climate, this is a necessity.

In the meantime her mother in Colombia is applying for a humanitarian visa to come help, but this process also needs financial assistance.

This fundraiser will help Cecilia cover her overwhelming ongoing cancer treatments, even with medical she is facing high copayments, secure safe housing and childcare, obtain a car, and pay for the legal and immigration support she and her family urgently need.
