I’m raising funds for dear friends of mine, Carolyne and Rodney, who run 9 Acres Organic Farm in Grimsby, Ontario. Many of you may remember the beautiful jars of honey they provided as our wedding favours this past fall.

On Sunday, March 8, their barn and farm-gate stop were lost in a devastating fire. The barn was the heart of their operation. It stored essential equipment and inventory and housed their small farm-gate shop, the 9 Acres Nook, where they welcomed the community and sold the fruits of their hard work.

In a matter of hours, it was all gone.

There are many days of cleanup ahead, followed by the enormous task of rebuilding the barn and store. The timing could not be worse. For farmers, spring is the most critical time of the year—every day matters. This loss will affect not only the coming season, but the seasons ahead.
