Dear Friends,

Our wonderful Brooke is once again facing the breast cancer beast. This is the THIRD time she must run the medical gauntlet of poking, prodding, appointments, impossible choices, mental and emotional exhaustion - and this time a very substantial surgery. 

This is also the THIRD time she is forced to take (unpaid) leave from running her own healthcare practice. When Oncologists asked about her life, they each winced when she told them she runs her own business and lives alone. Illness in America is life-threatening on multiple levels. 

Pre-op preparations begin July 14th and surgery is July 22nd. Brooke will need a couple months to recover. In addition to loss of income, she is facing the specter of medical costs, and myriad other unanticipated expenses.

We all know Brooke is a formidable force, and ain’t nothing gonna dim her light. We all know she gives everything to her people. We have all received Brooke’s support and generosity. Let us give her a moment to rest without financial fear. Any little bit you might send will help her feel held by her community. Even if you can’t send money - send her your love.

p.s. There was arm-twisting required to get Brooke to agree to this crowd-sourcing; she is acutely aware of the excessive challenges everyone is facing. Always mindful of others, Brooke is not inclined to ask for help. Which is all the more reason for us to give her all that we can.
