Support Ben Mayes in his fight against cancer.

Ben Mayes, a Junior at Roscommon High School was diagnosed with Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma in August of 2020. This is an extremely rare form of cancer that effects the liver. Approximately 1 in 5,000,000 people are affected. Ben underwent surgery in September to remove part of his liver, his gall bladder, and a portion of his diaphragm. He is currently preparing for another surgery to remove 3 additional tumors located at the bottom of his lung and below his heart. They will explore additional treatment options following surgery. Through all of this, Ben continued to make the Honor Roll (all A’s) and has kept a great disposition and attitude. We are in awe of this kid!
Both of Ben’s parents are teachers in Roscommon and have touched the lives of numerous children and families throughout their careers. We want to give back to this wonderful family! However, due to COVID restrictions, our strong, loving community has not been able to support them in our traditional fundraising and community way.
As we all know, money will not eliminate the worry Ben and his family are and will continue to face. Although, it may provide some relief toward the tremendous expense of time off work, travel, lodging and everything else that comes with these times.
