Support Ari's Healing Journey

On Monday, October 7th, my 12-year-old granddaughter, Ari, was attacked in a freak incident involving the family's aging dog. The two bones in Ari's left forearm were broken, and it was a compound fracture. She has had surgery, with plates and screws being placed to hold the bones in place for proper healing. The wound that the bone was protruding from was not able to be closed during surgery due to swelling. The doctor is hoping to do surgery on Wednesday to close the wound. If swelling has not decreased enough at that time, surgery will be scheduled for Friday. There is a possibility that she may need a skin graft to close the wound. She also had some other wounds that were surgically closed, and she has several scrapes and bruises. We are also anticipating that she will have some PTSD.

Ari's parents have insurance, but we all know that there can be situations where insurance does not cover all the medical expenses. Tom and Kristin also have jobs that do not have paid time off. Their monthly budget is tight but manageable as long as they are working. They have been sure to be with Ari as much as possible and have made sure that someone is at the hospital with Ari if they are not able to be there. Tom and Kristin have been taking turns spending the night at the hospital, and grandparents have been helping to babysit the three younger children. With the hours that Kristin and Tom are not able to work, the extra medical expenses, and extra traveling expenses, we are reaching out to family and friends for any assistance that they might be willing to donate. We will not know the extent of medical bills until she is released from the hospital. We know that Thursday will be the earliest she will be released, but it could be as late as early next week. Any donation is greatly appreciated. Most of all, we ask our community for their prayers as Ari begins to heal, prayers for Tom and Kristin, and for Ari's three younger siblings who miss being with her.
