Support Annie's Journey to Full Recovery

Dear Family and Friends of Annie Lorenzini,
As many of you already know, on May 27th, Annie incurred third-degree burns on 30% of her body and has been at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center ever since. September 4th marked Annie’s 100th day in the hospital. Through it all, Annie has survived severe pain, infections, and eight skin graft surgeries. At last, Annie's medical team has deemed her ready to start acute rehab, which means that she will be participating in intensive Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy for 2-3 weeks, and then go home. At first, the team thought Annie would have to go to a skilled nursing facility, but Annie proved she's up for the intensity of acute rehab. It's been painful and overwhelming at times, but she's gung ho! Whenever we talk to her, she has her hands contorted in new positions to get them to stretch. She's pushing herself hard to recover.
Home is going to be a new challenge since she's just beginning to walk with a a walker, and relearn tasks. One of the most important things for Annie in the coming year is having another person help stretch her limbs regularly, so her hands, arms, and legs regain as much function as possible.
We are starting this GoFundMe for Annie to help pay for a few days a week of in-home care this fall and the coming year, to help with tasks, stretching, and transport to the outpatient burn clinic. Annie has no income now and likely won't for a while. Any amount of support would help, no matter how small.
When Annie returns home, life will be quieter and less structured than at the hospital. Visitors will be most welcome to keep her spirits up. Thank you so much for all your support over the last months. It has meant the world to us, and most of all, to Annie!
With much gratitude,
Luca, Frankie, Alison, Candace, William, and Liz
