Support Anita's Recovery

My name is Ashley, and along with my suite, we are starting this Go Fund Me for our roommate Anita as she begins her road to recovery.

If you haven’t met Anita before, she is a charismatic, resilient, and loving person who can brighten up a room. Anita is a first-generation, low-income student at Northwestern University studying biomedical engineering. She is active in numerous clubs including the National Society of Black Engineers, Black Formal, Society of Women Engineers, and many more.

On Monday night, though she was not the intended target, Anita suffered multiple gunshot wounds in a senseless act of violence. She was rushed to the hospital and underwent immediate surgery. After a few days in the ICU, she was transferred to a step-down unit. She is currently in a stable condition awaiting another invasive surgery.

This Go Fund Me page is to help Anita and her family cover the expenses of her hospital stay, operations, rehabilitation, and therapy as she begins the road to recovery from this traumatic event. Your donation would help alleviate the financial burden that they are facing amidst this already trying time. The journey will be long, with more operations, clinical visits, and emotional counseling in the foreseeable future. Her parents are also located abroad and will need money to continue their visits as she recovers. Throughout this journey, we ask for continuing prayers, warm words, and encouragement for Anita and her full recovery. Please share and help the family with donations and spreading the word.
