Support Abraham Kim's Musical Journey

Hello! My name is Abraham Kim and I am fundraising this money to be able to attend the Meadowmount School of Music this summer. My entire musical journey starting in 2018 was only possible through the support of others. When I was 11, my mother and I discovered SOUNDS Academy, a non-profit organization in Phoenix to support underserved youth in music education. Through their continued support, I received private lessons, joined a youth orchestra, and went to various summer programs. My family doesn't have the financial capabilities to pay for all of these things and thankfully, people around me were there to support me. Right now, however, even with the amount of support I get, I can’t afford to go to these camps as the tuition is very hefty. I received the grand prize in our youth orchestra concerto competition in 2023 and received the opportunity to play the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Phoenix Symphony. I want to be a vessel for those who are struggling like me and lead an example for others that dreams will come true through hard work and dedication. This past year, I became a Jack Kente Cooke Young Artist recipient from the radio program From the Top and was able to receive $10,000 for my musical journey. I used a portion of the scholarship for a new bow and used the rest for a small part of the Meadowmount tuition and flight fees. In the six years I have played the cello, I met many people who are willing to help a young musician like me to help me follow my passion. With the scholarship money, I will attend this summer program to be closer to my goal of becoming a cellist who can share their story and inspire others. I sincerely hope that I can create an impact on my community and your support will help me grow into the person I dream to be.
