About This Campaign:

Life sometimes leads us down difficult roads, and for this dad (I will call him AA), his current situation has become mentally exhausting and unsustainable!

This GoFundMe campaign has been created to help AA move out of a toxic environment and begin a new chapter in a safe, stable apartment where he can have his boys with him. Out of respect for him and the privacy he is clinging to, I cannot go into detail. But I will say; during the last 14 years, he has worked hard to provide and be there for his three boys. He went back to college to get an engineering degree, took over payments on a mortgage so his family could have a very small home to live in, had to get loans for school to make ends meet, and is very involved daily taking care of each of his three sons. SLEEP for him was a luxury, and his studying time was second to trying to provide funds, cooking, cleaning, running errands, spending time with his boys (being there for their needs), etc., etc. His schooling stretched out and bills piled up.

Around May 1st, he found something in his marriage that was extremely painful to stumble across! He realized his trust and partnership were gone and he moved out into the garage/shed. He doesn’t have enough money for first and last month’s rent yet, and he refuses to leave his boys behind, so he is still there!

He is sleeping in the detached garage/shed that does not have plumbing, air-conditioning, or heat, and goes into the house when he absolutely has to.

Why Your Help Matters!

No one deserves to live in a place where they feel betrayed, belittled, scapegoated, unsupported, much less no water, no air in triple-digit heat. AA has been extremely resilient and has taken on a lot without complaint his whole life, never asking for anything. Even now he is very resistant to help, telling me he doesn’t want anyone to spend money they need just to help him. He has shown incredible strength but recognizes his and his boys' situation must change and is taking steps toward a better future.

However, the financial burden of moving—first and last month’s rent, and basic furnishings (he is taking VERY little with him)—can be overwhelming, especially when trying to leave an unhealthy environment quickly.

Thank you for reading this and considering a donation. I am creating this GoFundMe page but not stopping there. Where I live, it is much cheaper than where AA lives, so I plan on frugally “shopping” for necessities here in my city, filling a U-Haul here and driving down to where AA lives with all the items I collect. I can thrift shop for gently used items, collect donated goods and things here. My husband plans on paying trip expenses, and a dear friend has volunteered to come, help drive down, and move all collected items into the new place. All donations will be used for AA’s rent and household items.
