Supply Seattle Pre-K School!

THE STORY:
The Seattle Preschool Program in Seattle Public Schools is a well-funded program. Despite it being a well-funded program, there is an opportunity to support projects and activities in my son's classroom that go beyond basics to enhance learning experiences for the students.

Below is from Teacher Wooten on one of the needs:

"Enable differentiated classroom learning experiences.

My students need access to multiple modalities to support their learning. Access to an efficient, reliable printer will allow me to meet/support students' needs more effectively.

My Students
My class is a curious group of 20 young learners across a wide developmental progression. The youngest have just turned 3, while the oldest are beginning to turn 5.

They are from many different backgrounds with many different experiences and home languages.

We are teaching them Spanish in addition to developing their foundational English language skills.

At this young age, visual aids are essential to support connections between words and concepts. Children at this age are connecting symbols with sounds and quantities, as well as their own experiences to those of others as they develop their sense of empathy.

My Project
Visual aids such as pictures, labels, and photos support young learners' sense of self and belonging in a classroom community. They also support classroom organization, which creates a sense of security and calmness in a stimulating environment. We use Letter Links by the HighScope curriculum to bring the children's names into the classroom in a variety of ways. A variety of other web-based resources provide the capacity for us to differentiate our instruction on a daily, if not hourly, basis.

An educator's time is priceless- with reliable and efficient tools, we can create strong supports for our classrooms in 5 minutes.

Running back and forth from my classroom on the hill to the main school building where the printers are located to print vital visual materials for my young learners on unreliable printers has added HOURS to my prep time weeks, and has prevented me from being able to go the extra mile to print and use valuable resources, simply due to the waste/lack of time.

With a high quality, reliable printer in my classroom space, I can more efficiently create a welcoming and supportive environment. I will be able to create and utilize valuable tools that support young children's language, emotional, literacy, math, cognitive, and physical development."

MORE INFO:
The goal is to raise $1650. This is for the requested laser printer, toner catridges, and various school supplies. My hope is that the success of this campaign will make a lasting impact for years to come!

WHY THIS CAMPAIGN IS PERSONAL:
As a parent and graduate of the Seattle Public Schools, I am trying to help give back to my school district. It breaks my heart that not all classrooms can be fully supplied with whatever the teachers request. Some teachers even use their own money to purchase school supplies. We need to supply our teachers to enhace the learning for the future leaders of this world.
