SUP Quest - Adults with Developmental Disabilities

Hello!

My name is Matt Brickman. The first time I tried paddle boarding in 2014, I immediately fell in love with the feeling and perspective of being on the water in such a minimal way. Seven years later, I am embarking on a long distance paddle board touring trip, with the philosophy of pushing myself outside my comfort zone while giving back to my community.

My paddle board adventure’s objective is to bring awareness to and raise funds for adults supported by Community Living Stratford & Area (CLSA).

Stand up paddle boarding has not typically been an activity accessible to adults with developmental disabilities. I have partnered with CLSA to raise money to purchase stand up paddle board equipment. Our goal is to enable adults within the CLSA community to participate in stand up paddle boarding and experience the feeling of being on the water.

I will be paddle boarding along the Lake Huron coast from Grand Bend to Tobermory, ON; about 260 kilometres. My journey will take place between late July and early August 2021.

Please consider supporting adults with developmental disabilities and help fuel their yearning for adventure and inclusivity. To learn more and donate, use the buttons below.
