Our mission statement is to help those in need, homeless, veterans, or just a person who is down on their luck. Every Friday night in downtown Albany, New York, dozens of grassroots volunteers get together to provide clothing, supplies, home cooked meals, sandwiches, whatever we can for those in need. We have even helped furnish apartments when our friends have been able to get off the streets and provide hotel rooms when the Northeast weather turns brutal. That is what we do. That is what Street Soldiers is about.
Our mission has accumulated support and donations from South Carolina and Georgia! Sue and Brad, Surfside Beach residents, made sure they donated to our cause with (2) bags of clothes. Thank you, for everything! Our mission will never change. Help those in need, and always stay humble and kind.
For the last 8 months of our Friday night's, as well as so many days and evenings in-between our growing group of volunteers have the privilege of creating friendships, building relationships with our neighbors providing what we can, doing what we can. It just gets better and better. Bonds are formed, friendships are made, the heart is full and the soul is complete. And when a regular face doesn't show up, we frantically ask if they have been seen, and if anyone knows if they are ok.
Our Friday nights. They humble each one of us. It’s not you. It’s not me … It’s US. Where friends become family. They leave with full bellies and we leave with full hearts. Neither hail, nor sleet, not even freezing rain... Street Soldiers still come through! Back out on the streets in Albany feeding and clothing the homeless and less fortunate where unconditional acceptance makes all the difference in the world ❤
