My name is Kristian Blackmon,local activist,organizer and lover of black people.
I am the creator of this fund.
Rika Tyler another local activist,organizer and lover of black people is on my team.
On May,30th,2020 unrest occurred in Ferguson and a business was vandalized.
After that incident many folx from the community, including myself ,asked if there was a fund in place to support black businesses, seeing there was none that I could find we decided to make this go fund me.
This fund was put in place to lend financial support to local black businesses both as the pandemic and social unrest continues to rage throughout the country.
We are part of the community that many of these businesses serve and that is how we are connected.
We vow to support black businesses in the St.Louis region whenever and however we can each and everyday.
We can't do any work without community so we are asking the community to help support this fund.
We originally set the fund at 10K and hit it in just 3 days!
The campaign was then raised to 20k and we have now hit they goal as well.
As of now 6 businesses will receive donations from this fund.
I will update and share when the distributing of funds to these businesses occur once they are released from go fund me.
