Stephen and Chandi Pelcha & Heather Magiera
Don protégé

Her injuries required intensive wound treatment and surgeries including having her jaw wired shut for 8 weeks. She was in the ICU/hospital for 9 days before being allowed to go home to Florida for further treatment and recovery.
Chandi had just reached several milestones- the wires were removed & she could eat again, the leg wound & broken pelvis were healed so she could walk and not use the wheelchair. Then tragedy struck the family again.
On October 3, 2019 Stephen was hit by a truck while waiting for the school bus. He sustained critical injuries including head trauma and multiple fractures to all of his head and face- skull, eye sockets, nose and jaw (in several places). All of his front teeth are gone and he has lost the sight in his left eye.
He has already had multiple surgeries that include a tracheotomy, PEG tube for feeding and facial reconstruction for the many fractures. He has been in ICU since the accident and has a very long road to recovery ahead.
These two accidents, just 3 months apart, have placed a heavy burden on this family- emotionally, physically and financially. This is a family that works hard and they have insurance for both of the kids. But, the uncovered expenses for these types of injuries are astronomical and the family is financially drained.
All of the funds donated go directly to the help with the mounting medical expenses. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated as they continue to support Stephen and Chandi through this difficult healing process.
