Steph Cox’s Children's Illustrators Fund

Don protégé
My name is Steph and I have severe Cerebral Palsy. I type with my nose, and I have a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. In 2017, I wrote a children's book about my life with cerebral palsy. After 3 attempts at trying to get this book illustrated, two of them ended up not finishing the whole book, thus, leaving me out a lot of money because I am honest and caring and I paid for each illustration as it was completed. Lesson learned and I will be paying the next illustrator the total sum once the entire book is completed.

Due to my CP, and now Covid, I am unable to work and my husband is my full time, 24/7 caregiver. Therefore, my husband is unable to work. We live on a very limited income and our finances are draining out with trying to get this book illustrated on top of the other life expenses that we have. I don’t have enough money to pay for this book to be illustrated in full all over again. Yet, as an early childhood professional, I know this book is needed for children and families to understand disability and to see an accurate representation of what life with cerebral palsy is like. I am looking to help people, not get rich.

Disability needs to be understood instead of feared or ignored. I’m asking for your help to make this book finally a reality. No donation is too small. I will be eternally grateful for any help you can give to making my book a reality. Thank you so much!
