Standing With Tara in Her Fight Against Metastatic Breast Cancer
Hello everyone, my name is Skyler Gordon, and I’m writing this from a place of deep love for my stepmom, Tara. Tara is someone who means more to me than I can put into words. She is one of the strongest, most selfless people I know. She has spent so much of her life showing up for everyone else — loving fiercely, giving endlessly, and never asking for anything in return. She is an amazing wife to my dad, Kenny, an incredible mom to my brother Maddox, and the best bonus mom to me and my brother Kyle. Tara is also the proud “Sugar” to her sweet granddaughter, Emersyn Rose, and a loving aunt to Maggie, Locklyn, and Lawson. Tara has always been the one who shows up — for her family, her friends, and anyone who needs her. She gives endlessly of herself and loves deeply.
In November, Tara received a diagnosis of stage IV metastatic breast cancer. It’s a journey she now faces with incredible courage, faith, and the love of our family. This diagnosis has changed all of our lives, but Tara continues to show strength and grace every single day. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her. Between ongoing treatments, monthly injections, medications, frequent doctor visits, and the physical and emotional toll of living with metastatic cancer, the financial burden can be overwhelming. I started this GoFundMe to help ease some of that burden so Tara can focus on what matters most — her health, her family, and spending precious time with the people she loves.
