Help Support Sharkiface During a Difficult Health Crisis
Angie/Sharkiface has been a crucial part of Oakland’s experimental music community; not only as an artist, but as an organizer who has dedicated an enormous amount of energy toward creating memorable, unique events for local and touring artists, and making weirdos feel welcome. Like so many people whose focus is on helping others, Angie is reluctant to put it out there that she needs help. Right now, she’s facing serious health struggles, and the current and expected costs are overwhelming for a self-employed service worker.
Between ongoing treatment, recovery, the inability to work, and the basic costs of rent and other necessities, this has become an incredibly difficult period for Angie, financially and emotionally. We are hoping to raise $8,000 to cover hospital costs and a couple months of rent for her.
Anyone who knows Sharkiface also knows the depth of her compassion. Her close friends can count on her to show up for them in times of crisis. Hundreds of artists can (and should) thank her for hooking them up with a paying gig, a home-cooked meal, and/or a place to sleep on tour. And then there’s her endless love and care of animals in need, of which she has fostered and adopted quite a few over the years. Angie even was generous enough to convert her home to a music center and let a half-dozen of her friends rehearse, record, put on shows, screenprint merch, and run a record store there — LCM Oakland aka Life Changing Ministries.
If Sharkiface, LCM Oakland, Ratskin Records, or the community she has helped nurture has ever impacted your life — whether through music, friendship, art, conversation, shelter, inspiration, or simply making you feel welcome — please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser.
Funds raised will help cover:
---Medical bills and treatment
---Recovery and living expenses
