Hi, my name is Adaliz, and I'm starting this fundraiser for my husband and our family.
On April 17th, we unfortunately received the devastating news that my husband Peter Smart has stage 3 colorectal cancer, and our lives have been turned upside down.
My husband has always been a hard worker, an amazing dad to our two daughters, and someone who is always willing to help others whenever he can. He has always done everything he can to provide for our family and support the people around him. Watching him go through this has been incredibly hard for all of us.
Since my husband's diagnosis we've received more answers and while we are grateful to finally have a plan, it has also made everything feel more real.
We know the stage of his cancer, and he will be starting immunotherapy as well as Iron transfusion. This means ongoing treatments, frequent appointments, and a lot of uncertainty in the months ahead. If this treatment is not effective, his doctors may consider additional options such as chemotherapy and radiation.
He is still trying to work when he feels up to it, but his ability to do so depends on his pain and treatment schedule. Some days he can work and other days he simply can't. Because of this our income has become unpredictable.
I am currently not working so I can be there for him and take him to appointments, helping manage his care and around the house, as well as supporting him through everything that comes with this diagnosis.
We are asking for help to cover:
Medical expenses and treatments
Gas and travel for appointments
Household bills and daily living costs
lost income as we navigate this next phase
This is not easy for us to ask, but we know we can't do this alone. If you are able to help in any way whether through donating or sharing it would truly mean so much to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for continuing to support us, praying for us and standing with us during this time.
