In early December, our dear friend Greg Young suffered a life-threatening aortic dissection and stroke — a medical crisis that changed everything in an instant. Since then, Greg has had three emergency heart surgeries and was in the ICU for three weeks, surrounded by his wife, Shea Cunningham, and their two children, Scarlett and Emmett and extended family.
Greg was released from the ICU at Christmas and is beginning to start inpatient physical therapy, but the road ahead is uncertain, with doctors anticipating a recovery period that could span more than a year. Let's be honest and clear here - there is a very low survival rate for those who suffer an aortic dissection. Greg has miraculously defied the odds. While the family is focused on Greg’s healing, the financial reality is daunting. Between the unexpected mounting expenses and sudden loss of income, the need for support is urgent and real.
This fund will go directly toward sustaining the family through an incredibly difficult, expensive, uncertain time. Any amount — no matter how small — makes a meaningful difference.
Having also just moved to Washington State, their normal, established networks of support are not as readily available. Let's all join together to uplift our beloved friends and help them overcome this challenging time. In addition to any donations, part of our request here is to please share this link in any and all networks where Shea and Greg are known and connected . They are relying on us to spread the word so that their focus can remain on recovering full strength and functionality - both for Greg physically and for the family as a unit.
Thank you for standing with Greg, Shea, and their children as they navigate this long and arduous journey. Your support means the world to them.
