Stand with Us Against Food Insecurity

Tax deductible
Hello, We are "The Dream Team," John Perez, Dave Stanley, Alexandra Krowski, Chris Schloss and Brandi Mosley. We are University of North Texas students partnering with The Hunger Project as part of our Civic Engagement opportunity within the BAAS program. Any funds raised as part of this fundraiser will go toward The Hunger Project via GoFundMe payout processes.

Sometimes, a grilled cheese sandwich can make it all better.

Especially when one is served through FeelGood, a community youth program that is part of the larger The Hunger Project organization. It is one of several ways that the global organization is providing easy access to help to end world hunger. We at The Dream Team are looking to raise money and awareness in order to make a donation to The Hunger Project and its myriad programs, FeelGood included among them.

Never in history has the human population had more wealth, technology, and capability. However, a substantial amount of the world’s population faces crippling hunger to this day.

733 million people, to be exact. And the problem is of a chronic nature.

Food insecurity takes on a variety of forms, even here in the United States. For instance, the COVID-19 pandemic placed a substantial amount of people in an uncomfortable position. Prior to the beginning of the 2010’s, grocery delivery was thought of by many as a senior citizens or shut-ins thing. Once the virus got a foothold, people had to get creative, as previously stocked kitchen pantries were sometimes laid bare.

Nowadays, food delivery is commonplace, and many providers even take SNAP vouchers. But the memory of that fear remains for many.

The insecurity. The nail-biting about the rest of the week’s food situation.

Unfortunately, for a large portion of the world’s population, it is more than a recollection—it remains a part of their day-to-day life.

Food insecurity leads to a host of health and societal concerns, and The Hunger Project has a proven track record of solving the root of the problem, and not just the symptoms. From farming education to ecosystem sustainability, no stone—or patch of soil—is left unturned when it comes to equipping people with the tools, they need to succeed to never be food insecure again.

Human dignity, interconnectedness, and equality are the principles that form the bedrock of The Hunger Project. And everyone from the top-down is committed to not only feeding but educating.

We invite you to take a moment to check out the navigable and easy-to-read website for The Hunger Project. Their work reaches 16 million people in 15,000 communities worldwide. We at The Dream Team are proud to partner with them and the innovative programs that they offer. Our ultimate goal is to raise $150 for them.

From Denton County to Djibouti, Ethiopia, we are committed to help end hunger.

Even if it’s one grilled cheese at a time.
