Our niece, Shauna, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 intrahepatic bile duct cancer — a rare and aggressive form of cancer that has a poor prognosis. Shauna is a young mother in her 30s with a caring husband and an adorable 3-year-old little boy. She is a beloved elementary school music teacher, a church choir member, and an animal lover. She owns 2 dogs, 1 horse, and a backyard full of chickens, much to her son’s great delight.

The road ahead will be difficult, filled with intensive treatments, medical expenses, and unforeseen costs that no one should have to face alone. We’re reaching out to our community, friends, and family to help ease the financial burden so Shauna can focus on what matters most: fighting this challenging battle and holding onto hope.

She starts heavy-duty chemotherapy in the near future, and the family is already researching clinical trials as it will take all of this, along with many prayers, to drive back this cancer.
