Supporting the Family of Aiden Rhee Koontz

Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Supporters,

With heavy hearts, we share the story of Aiden Rhee Koontz, our beloved 25-year-old son/grandson/brother/nephew/cousin/friend who is currently battling cancer. Aiden was first hospitalized on March 1, 2024, and has undergone multiple hospitalizations, with the most recent being an extended stay in the UCSF intensive care unit due to life-threatening swelling in his brain. Heartbreakingly, the brain biopsy he received at UCSF has resulted in a diagnosis of high-grade glioma (received on August 6th). The cancer has spread across his meninges and has been deemed inoperable. Aiden is currently undergoing a series of radiation treatments at UCSF where he is receiving care.

Known for his vivid imagination, warm nature, and deep belly laugh, Aiden has always been a shining light to those around him. Whether he’s caring for animals or children, sharing his “jazzy rap” musical compositions, connecting with friends and family through Dungeons & Dragons, or engaging with his passion for the outdoors, Aiden has a zest for life and infectious spirit. His friends and family know him as loyal and fiercely protective with a loving heart and a quick wit that never fails to bring joy to those around him. His spot-on imitation of Trump is a highlight for many, often leaving everyone in stitches while his quiet, patient nature makes his sisters, pets, and family feel seen and loved.

As Aiden confronts this challenging time, the financial burden of medical expenses, travel, housing, and other costs associated with providing and seeing him through treatment has become overwhelming. This is where we hope to rally our community for support. We are raising funds to help cover Aiden’s medical bills, ongoing treatments, and other essential expenses during this critical time.
