St Edward Special School, Kenya

St Edward Special School, Kenya looks after 300+ children, most of them orphans. They continue to be on edge of starvation and malnutrition. The school and orphanage is run by a hardworking and committed man, Bishop Solomon, in the name of Mission Under Grace. They often need to make a decision to either pay for teachers or pay for food.

As you can see from the photo, the conditions are minimal.

They need food and basic things...

They need 20 chairs and desks ($30 each), 60 books ($5 each), tin sheets for roofing ($24 each), 20 blankets ($5 each), 20 mattresses ($20 each), 20 bed sheets ($5 each), 30 dining tables ($60 each), 300 dining chairs ($10 each), and so much more. 

Most importantly, we have been helping them buy land so they can grow food and become increasingly independent. The 8 acres costs AUD$35,000.

We visited the school and orphanage in 2023 and can attest that they are doing everything they can to improve the conditions for the children under their care and have used donations for the purpose for which they were provided. They continue to provide photos and videos to keep us abreast of developments and we will visit again in July 2024.

A school without books, without internet - and children with only one set of basic clothes - even the smallest donation goes a long way in Kenya.
